Motor graders
Motor graders are long wheeled machines with an adjustable blade, called a moldboard, mounted between the front and rear axles. They are used to shape and finish road beds, maintain gravel and haul roads, cut ditches and slopes, spread material and prepare fine-graded surfaces before paving.
Specs that matter when comparing motor graders include operating weight and engine power, along with moldboard width and blade positioning range. Wheelbase, overall length and turning radius affect manoeuvrability, while overall width and height matter for transport and work on narrow roads. Some models are listed with all-wheel drive, rear rippers or front blades, which change weight and dimensions, so compare like configurations.
Across the 20 models listed here, operating weight ranges from about 12,018 to 47,320 kg (26,495 to 104,323 lb). Brands covered: Case, Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu.
